Have you attended a meeting where motions appear to be handled correctly, but it doesn’t seem right? Misconceptions of common motions and procedure can lead to dysfunction in meetings and hamper the effectiveness of the assembly. Join us for this workshop where we will explore where these misunderstandings come from, the proper procedure according to Robert’s Rules of Order, and the potential harm if these misconceptions are not addressed. Session is approved for 2 CEUs. John Bieker, RP, GPC.D, Owner of Leitstern Consulting, joined NAP in 2021 and is currently the President of Parliamentarians Association of British Columbia (PABC). He is a Registered Parliamentarian (RP) with NAP and holds the GPC.D credential from the Governance Professionals of Canada. John has served as a Chief Governance Officer for an Indigenous government in British Columbia, fulfilling the role of clerk and advising parliamentarian for their legislative assembly and Annual General Meetings. John advocates for continuous improvement in governance activities, and leads training sessions for in board effectiveness, decision-making, and developing strong governance practices.
