Membership

To become a member of the Parliamentarians Associaton of British Columbia (PABC), you must be a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP).

GavelTo become a member of NAP, you will have to demonstrate that you possess basic knowledge of parliamentary principles by writing a 100 question examination. The questions are based on chapters 1-11 of Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised In Brief (2nd edition) and a passing grade of 70% is required to become a member. To help you prepare for the exam, download the NAP Membership Study Guide.

Once you feel close to being ready to write the exam you should submit an application to NAP.

After successfully passing the entrance exam you will be a member! Members are required to pay annual dues to continue being a member of NAP and PABC. The dues are collected in US Funds by NAP and includes your membership to PABC. Members receive a discounted registration fee on all PABC educational workshops. NAP members may belong to more than one state/provincial association. They are "primary members" of one, and "affiliate members" of any additional associations. Primary members of PABC pay PABC dues through NAP along with their NAP dues. Affiliate members of PABC pay PABC dues directly to PABC.
